Generations of quality in every piece
The story of Kynoch starts more than 200 years ago with the establishment of a bleach-field for flax in Keith. The latest chapter is of a brand still creating vibrant, exciting fabric designs from the Scottish Borders – fabrics that have been worn by Hollywood film stars and royalty alike.
When George Kynoch gave his name to the business, he could not have imagined Kynoch would still be manufacturing cloth and selling it in such distant lands as China and Korea. Today our team of talented designers, diligent account managers and enthusiastic agents travel the world providing an exceptional service to a truly global client base.
By the 1933 Kynoch had become a household name in textiles and finished garments, with product on sale in every city and town in Britain. The Kynoch brand wasn’t just well-known and respected in Britain though. The Hollywood starlet Dorothy Lamour visited the Kynoch stand at the British Textile Fair in London and purchased a number of items. We weren’t just for the film-stars of the day either, The Prince of Wales, the Prime Minister and the Lord Mayor of London all made purchases at the Fair too! An endorsement of our quality then and the standards that we diligently maintain to this day.
Fit and strong to satisfy today’s demanding customers
These cloths are a product of a desire to constantly innovate through a complex build-up of texture and colour, the twisting of yarns and innovative textile constructions. An exciting future
The Kynoch brand is now owned by Joshua Ellis and Co Ltd, arguably the world’s finest cashmere cloth manufacturer. As members of the SIL Holdings group of companies, the Kynoch name has a bright future with this integrated group of textile businesses. It fits very comfortably within the group ethos of delivering “Textile Excellence”, and as well as the financial stability the group provides, it also allows access to a wide range of expertise right from fibre trading, yarn merchanting and other complementary manufacturing and finishing businesses.
